log(y) #39 - Search; Science
Google Search has received numerous updates recently; please verify any news related to scientific breakthroughs.
Greetings,
I hope this message finds you well.
Can you believe it's already November, and yet there's been no sign of rain?
Regardless of the weather, I'm excited to share what I've got in store for this week's newsletter.
Let's dive in and see what I can offer you in this edition.

Google Search. The teams behind Google Search have been busy for the last couple of months. They have rolled out notable updates to improve Google Search in August, September, October, and November, spanning four consecutive months. Additionally, they have completed the mobile-first indexing, which had been delayed several times. Furthermore, a feature from The Verge discussing the decline in search quality has captured my attention. It even prompted Google Search Liaison to write a lengthy blog post in response to The Verge's story.
In Defense of RAM. I concur with the author. Having only 8GB of RAM in 2023 falls short of the mark. A default RAM capacity of 16GB should be standard, particularly for professional laptops.
Giving a Shit as a Service. People love to converse, so simply encourage them to engage in conversation, especially when you're in business.
The beauty of finished software. The current software development paradigm rewards periodic updates rather than delivering a finished product.
Digital Minimalism, or Man Buys New Phone. I prefer to deliberately limit screen time rather than relying on a restricted computing device.
The Slow Death of Authenticity in an Attention Economy. Chasing numbers at all costs and by any means.

Engineer Explains How the World’s Longest Suspension Bridge Would Work. It may appear to be just another suspension bridge, but when this bridge is finally constructed, it will stand as one of the most advanced engineering feats ever achieved by human beings.
The Problem With Science Communication. When you heard or read new science breakthrough from media, please put a grain of skepticism. Many science breakthrough are just concept, simulation, or labs work that have not been proven and tested in real work.
Movies
Missing. A husband sought revenge by attempting to kidnap his ex-wife while she was traveling, as a result of her actions that had previously led to his incarceration. Later, his daughter discovered the situation. The story, on the whole, lacks depth in its plot and characters.
The Other Zoey. Zack suffered a concussion after accidentally colliding with a car. When he regained consciousness, he encountered Zoey and initially mistook her for his girlfriend, but she turned out to be the other Zoey. The other Zoey believed in love based on data, but her perspective shifted after spending time with Zack. Overall, it's a straightforward story with decent execution.
Discovery
1ft.io. A website for accessing paywalled content. I typically use Archive Today, but it's still a good alternative.
That's all for this week, dear readers.
Thank you for joining me once again, and I appreciate your continued support.
I look forward to catching up with you again in next week's edition.
See you then!
