Articles
The elePHPant in the room: Wordpress. Although PHP is not the most beloved programming language among developers, it is still widely used by WordPress developers. While many new technologies have emerged to replace WordPress functionality, none have come close to its usage since it is an open-source platform.
Listening
Podcast
Solo Acts: Marco Arment and his podcast app Overcast. Although I no longer use Overcast and have switched to Pocket Cast, I still think it's a great app. One of its fantastic features is the smart trimmed silence. I would recommend it for anyone looking to start listening to podcasts, especially if you are an iPhone user.
Music
Maroon 5. This week, I listened to a playlist of Maroon 5 songs while working.
Watching
YouTube
How Quantum Computers Break The Internet... Starting Now. Quantum Computing may break widely-used public-private encryption faster than we thought, but cryptographers are already preparing encryption methods for the quantum computing era.
Movies
A Man Called Otto. How to not finish your life stupidly after losing everything you love, and instead find ways to do meaningful things for others for the rest of your life.
Using
Hardware
Elgato Facecam. This high-quality webcam is perfect for video calls, virtual conferences, and live streaming. With exceptional image quality, easy plug-and-play setup, and reliable performance, it is an excellent investment for anyone seeking a top-of-the-line webcam. Whether you're a professional or a casual user, this webcam is an ideal choice for anyone who wants to enhance their video quality and communication experience.
Apps
Little Snitch Mini. I have prior experience with Little Snitch, having used it some time ago. This new app, developed by the same team, is a mini version of the more complete Little Snitch, and is available for free. It actively monitors your network and allows you to easily enable or disable certain applications using a simple toggle switch.
Microsoft Loop. Microsoft continues to innovate, as evidenced by the recent release of several new products and product updates such as New Bing, Office Copilot, Github Copilot X, and now Microsoft Loop. Microsoft Loop is essentially Microsoft's version of Notion, which allows users to create any type of document without being restricted in a traditional Microsoft Office manner.
SaaS
Make (aff). An automation service that provides a viable alternative to Zapier, while also offering more generous free features.
Discovery
GitHub Copilot X. The new version of GitHub Copilot, named Copilot X, appears to be even more capable than its previous iterations as an AI-based code assistant.
